Tree roots and blocked drains cause havoc

18/10/2019

Blocked sewer drains cause many issues in Canberra and the surrounding areas. Drains become blocked from tree roots, kitchen waste including fats, hair, heavy rain and floods, and many other complex scenarios.

Older suburbs across Australia have terracotta pipes that are 40 to 80 years old. These pipes can easily become broken or blocked and cause various drainage issues.

We were called to an emergency blocked toilet on the second floor of a house in Reid. The drain was completely blocked and sewage water was running down the side of the sewer pipe.

We used the eel, which is an electric tool which rotates rapidly, breaking away the blockage. Only a professional plumber should use this tool as it can break pipes and has a limited range, so careful operation is key.

After we used the eel to clear major tree roots, the high pressure water jetter removed the remaining tree roots. We used the camera to inspect the drain, alternating the water jetter until we were sure all of the blockage was removed. This work was completed on two separate visits to the property.

We offer same day emergency service 24 hours a day, seven days a week to any property across the Canberra region. We have the latest technology and equipment to prevent unnecessary digging up of drains, reducing your costs and ensuring the end result is a functional drain.
